The NFL Today on CBS celebrates its 50th anniversary Sunday. Brent Musburger - who coined ‘You are looking live’ - returns to the set. As host, he helped to make that program sizzle, along with Irv Cross and Phyllis George. Quiz: Before The NFL Today was born, CBS ran another pregame show. Can you name it? (Answer below)
Six months ago, who had Daniel Jones and Mack Jones as starting quarterbacks in Week 3?
The Red Sox are not a lock to make the playoffs. They have a tough schedule with games on the road at Tampa Bay (George M. Steinbrenner Field), Toronto and then home against the Tigers at Fenway. Plus, they are in a difficult position in that they have to win, but beating Toronto helps the Yankees in that New York could end up winning the division. That would mean should the Red Sox get in, they would more than likely not face New York in the wild card round. It should be quite a finish.
And speaking of locks, if the Toronto Blue Jays blow the AL East, there are not going to be many happy people north of the border.
Has anyone checked out Giants pitcher Justin Verlander’s numbers, lately? In his last four starts, covering 25 innings, the 42-year-old right hander has allowed one run. That computes to a 0.36 ERA.
The ACC could change its football schedule for 2026, mandating 10 games against Power Four opponents.
Word is Mike Gundy of Oklahoma St. and Billy Napier of Florida are on the college football coaches hot seat.
