New York football teams are pathetic

Betts heads up play saves the Dodgers. Kudos to the Patriots, but...

Good morning, all! I hope your Tuesday is a good one!

The state of the NFL teams in the metropolitan New York area is a disgrace. And that is putting it mildly. I break it down in the above video.

Here are some other thoughts, as I contemplate potential interim head coaching candidates for the New York Giants:

  • Furious ninth inning rally by the Phillies falls short, as the Dodgers hold on to win 4-3 and take a commanding 2-0 lead back to LA in the NLDS. Still trying to figure out why Phillies manager Rob Thomson attempted the sacrifice bunt in that inning? I know he was trying to get the tying run over to third, but it stalled the rally’s momentum. That said, great play by Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts to beat the runner to third and be in position to handle third baseman Max Muncy’s throw for the putout.

  • By the way, I hope you are enjoying those dirt-cam shots in the MLB playoffs. The Hartford Yard Goats and Dunkin’ Park were used as a testing ground by MLB, during the minor league season for those cams. Great shots, aren’t they?

  • Those Dodgers are playing with a purpose, now, aren’t they?

  • Could Aaron Boone be managing his final game with the Yankees tonight?

  • Did a commentary on my YT baseball channel about how Boone and Phillies manager Thomson could be in trouble, in case you are interested.

  • Game 3 of Red Sox-Yankees wild card series garnered 7.6M viewers for ESPN a record for a wild card game on the all-sports network.

  • Bloody alley fight leads to suit against Mark Sanchez and Fox Sports.

  • My five Picks for Kicks for Week 5 were a disaster, as I went 1-4. I am now 12-13 on the season. Ugh!

  • Nice win by the Patriots Sunday night at Buffalo. That was one of the picks, I got wrong. No question the Pats are an improved team under new coach Mike Vrabel and will get better. But before we start gassing up the duck boats for that downtown Boston parade, understand that teams on the upswing, do take a step back during the course of a 17-game season. My point? I would not be surprised if the Patriots have their problems in New Orleans on Sunday.

  • The city of Cleveland is going to make it tough for the Browns to build that new stadium in the burbs next to Cleveland Hopkins Airport. They are appealing a Ohio Department of Transportation decision that permits the height of the new stadium to exceed flight patterns at the airport.

  • These stadium projects do get crazy, though. I remember in 1998, when Robert Kraft was going to move the Patriots to Hartford - he actually used Hartford to get that new stadium in Foxboro, but let that go - the stadium design became so ridiculous part of the upper deck was going to hang over I-84.

  • NHL season opens tonight. Will the Florida Panthers dynasty continue?

That is going to do it for today’s newsletter. Thank you for subscribing and have a great day.
