Thank you to everyone who tuned into my live video! Join me for my next live video in the app.
Good morning, all! How is your Tuesday morning going? Not so well for Brian Daboll.
I went live on Substack Monday to talk about the dismissal of Daboll as the head coach of the New York Giants. The video is above.
Here are some other stories that caught my eye:
Today is Veterans Day in the U.S.A. If you see a Veteran, thank them for their service. And it does not have to Veterans Day to give them thanks.
Sensitive to the budding betting scandal, involving Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanual Clase and Luis Ortiz, MLB is limiting prop bets on pitching to $200. Repeat! These scandals, of which there are many, are not going to stop the professional sports leagues from doing a 180 on gambling. They are going to stick by permitting legalized betting on their sports. Why? M-O-N-E-Y!
Giants QB Jaxson Dart’s father, who played college football, says don’t expect Lane Kiffin, Dart’s college coach, to vie for the Giants head coaching job. “It’s too cold in New York for me,” Kiffin supposedly stated.
ESPN and its parent company Disney, not close to cutting a deal with You Tube. Supposedly, You Tube is offering subscribers a $20 credit, because of the dispute. Rich DeMuro, one of my go-to techies, posted this on Facebook on how subscribers can take advantage of the credit:
Another one of my go-to experts is Lon Seidman. Lon and I go back to 2012, when he generously gave of his time to give me some pointers on the technology that has become routine today but was ground breaking then. We met at a Starbucks in West Hartford, CT, and Lon pointed me in the right direction. Anyway, I invite you to check out his website and read his story about how the communication industry, whether you are talking ancient cable-TV or streaming, is trying to rake us over the coals. Sports programming is in the vanguard of this coverage. Just ask Packers and Eagles fans, who garner their content from YouTube TV.
How come Gene Autry’s Here Comes Santa Claus keeps ringing in my ears? Autry, by the way, was the first owner of the Los Angeles Angels.
AI is taking over the world, but beware. It really is ridiculous, when some of these social media pages, send out information and photos like this:
Sure that is Shibe Park in Philadelphia on Opening Day in 1909. Quite a remarkable photo, wouldn’t you say? Lights atop the ballpark roof? Amazing, considering the Cincinnati Reds played MLB’s first night game on May 24, 1935.
It is going to be interesting to witness the free agent signings in MLB this off season, with labor strife looming on the horizon. Remember, MLB’s labor agreement with the MLBPA expires on Dec. 1, 2026. That will have an impact on all signings IMHO.
That is going to do it for today’s newsletter. I am planning on doing more live video feeds on Substack. The video above was from Monday afternoon, in the aftermath of Daboll’s dismissal. Thank you for subscribing and for your support!
