Good morning, all!
As we enter the month of May, it is a good time to assess how MLB players and clubs are performing, so let’s start with Aaron Judge. On Saturday, the Yankees slugger turned 33. That is usually an age when many players pass the peak of their careers. Judge shows no signs of slowing down or missing Juan Soto, whose New York Mets sojourn is off to a mediocre start.
Judge slugged another home run last night, though his Yankees lost to the Orioles, 5-4. He finishes April with a .427 average and 10 HRs; not bad for the guy who took a walk with his dogs on his birthday, after the Yankees game was rained out.
Meanwhile, it pains me to write this, because I know so many of these players broadcasting the games of their AA affiliate with Jeff Dooley, but the Colorado Rockies are drawing national attention for all the wrong reasons. Following back-to-back 100 loss seasons, the Rockies own a 5-25 record, the worst start of any MLB club in history. Colorado finished April with a 2-1 win over the Braves, but are 15.5 games out of first place. I hope they turn it around.
