Mum’s the word about a possible sale of the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun to an investor, who would relocate the franchise to Providence, RI. Outside of the story being reported by WPRI, a Providence television station, little has appeared in the media about a possible move to Rhode Island.
A story did break late this afternoon, that Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont claims a former NBA team owner wants to buy the Sun and keep the team in Connecticut. He says most of the home games would be played at the People’s Bank Arena in downtown Hartford.
I break it all down in this edition of DAN ON SPORTS, including why Providence would check all the boxes as far as a franchise shift.
