What do Yankees fans want?

Pay day for Cignetti. NHL expansion?

Good morning, all! The weekend is almost here!

The legacy New York Yankees, once again on the outside looking in as the MLB postseason is down to its final four, held their season-ending news conference Thursday. GM Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone met the media in separate sessions. I break it all down in the above video and podcast.

Here are some other thoughts as we are reminded how great it is to be a sought-after college football coach.

  • Earlier in the week, I wrote in the newsletter that when Penn St. fired coach James Franklin, it was going to be a great payday for some of the rumored replacements, and it has started. Indiana coach Curt Signetti is staying put. Indiana has given him a new eight-year contract worth nearly $93M. Will Nebraska coach Matt Rhule be next?

  • The Athletic reports that the Angels managerial job is Albert Pujols’ if he wants it but that the club is also interviewing other candidates.

  • More stories are emerging that the NHL is considering expansion but that you will need at least $2B to join the party.

  • Ratings for ESPN’s NHL doubleheader showed a big increase, in case you’re wondering.

  • According to Sportico, the Golden State Warriors are the NBA’s most valuable franchise worth $11.3B.

  • The Sports Business Journal is reporting the NFL is considering taking the selling of tickets to its games in house, when its deals with Ticketmaster, SeatGeak and Sports Illustrated Tickets expire. Now why would you think that? The league believes there is more money to be had, if it handles sales. But wait! There’s more! Handling ticket sales would also give the NFL access to those much coveted email addresses and other fan data. When it comes to greed, the NFL knows no bounds.

  • I would say the Milwaukee Brewers are in trouble.

  • The Red Sox traded Mookie Betts again, why?

  • 40 of 41 teams leading a championship series, 3-0, have gone on to win that series. I do not need to remind you the team which failed to do so.

  • Is it just me or shouldn’t Hal Steinbrenner have been at that season-ending, Yankees news conference Thursday? Much like Red Sox owner John Henry, he’s gone MIA, when it comes to facing the media.

That is going to do it for today’s newsletter. Have a terrific Friday!
