Rays owner backs out of ballpark deal

Announcement comes after NAACP wanted project to proceed

Tampa Bay Rays owner Stuart Sternberg is pulling out of the plan to build a new ballpark for his franchise.

Sternberg is citing cost for the reason, claiming the Rays end of the deal has increased beyond the $731M the franchise was supposed to hand over by Mar. 31. The announcement comes less than 48 hours after the St. Petersburg, FL NAACP stated it wanted the project to proceed despite some roadblocks.

I break it all down on this edition of DAN ON SPORTS.
