Good morning, all! I hope your Tuesday is off to a great start!
Anticipating MLB expansion two years ago, I produced my DAN PLAN, including realignment. My plan eliminated the American and National Leagues as we know it.
During ESPN’s telecast of Sunday night’s Little League World Series Classic, commissioner Rob Manfred hinted at expansion and realignment. His comments lit up the blogosphere. As a public service to baseball fans everywhere, here is my plan:
Once MLB secures a new deal with the MLBPA, and the current one expires after the 2026 season, you can be sure two more teams will be added. Expect realignment as well. I hope some of what I have proposed will be included.
Here are some other stories that caught my eye for Tuesday, August 19, 2025:
Not surprised that the Browns have named Joe Flacco as their starting QB, even though he is 40. The last thing coach Kevin Stefanski needs is a QB controversy.
So why would the NFL consider playing a Super Bowl in London, as is being rumored? Why did Willie Sutton rob banks? Word is the NFL could bring in billions in an international media deal, if the Super Bowl is held in London.
Money, money, money. Now Oklahoma is permitting fans to attend postgame news conferences. It will cost you, though and the price will be on a sliding scale. For two fans to attend the conference after the Oklahoma-Michigan game, Sept. 6, it will cost $692.11. I’m still trying to figure out how they split the penny.
I’ll guarantee you if someone ponied up some more money, Bill Belichick would be doing those radio interviews on the station carrying North Carolina football. Word is, Belichick, who became very chatty last year as entities ponied up dough for his access, is doing one interview before the season opener and that’s it!
And that’s it for today’s newsletter. As always, thank you for your support and have a terrific day.
