Memorial Day in the USA
’Best milk I’ve ever tasted.’ USA Hockey wins world championship. Knicks win. Cruz crushes baseball
Good morning, all!
Today is Memorial Day in the United States. Never forget those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom.
In 2018 I visited the Normandy American Cemetery. The remains of nearly 9,400 Americans are buried there. They gave their lives on D-Day, liberating Europe and forging the pathway for freedom everywhere, especially in the USA.
Among the athletes involved in the invasion were Yogi Berra and Bobby Jones. Of course, numerous athletes have served in our conflicts, including Bob Feller, Ted Williams, Jerry Coleman, Joe DiMaggio, Phil Rizzuto and many, many more, along with the millions from all walks of life who have served and given their lives for our country.
Every afternoon at 3:00, a commemoration in honor of those who sacrificed their lives is held at the Normandy cemetery. Here is some of what I recorded on that October afternoon in 2018.
Never forget.
Palou wins at Indy
Calling it the “best milk I’ve ever tasted,” Alex Palou won the Indy 500 on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Winning team owner Chip Ganassi said winning the race will make Palou’s career. Palou is a native of Spain.
Palou won the race, while it was under caution, after the Arrow McLaren Chevrolet driven by Nolan Siegal crashed on Turn 2 on the 200th and final lap of the race. Driving a Honda, Palou took the lead on lap 187, never relinquishing it.
