Mariners having a season
Good morning, all! It’s hump day!
The Milwaukee Brewers have captivated the attention for the baseball world, as well they should. They own the best record in MLB and are the only NL Central team in history to have two 10-game winning streaks in the same season.
However, has anyone been paying attention to the Seattle Mariners? The Mariners, only MLB franchise to never play in a World Series, are playing as if they want to be in one this season, led by All-Star catcher Cal Raleigh.
Now wouldn’t it be something if the Mariners played the Brewers in the World Series? From a ratings standpoint, it might be commissioner Rob Manfred’s worst nightmare, but think of the history? The Seattle Pilots lasted one season in MLB in 1969 and then took off for Milwaukee. Used car salesman Bud Selig led a group which bought the team and we all know what happened with Selig.
The Mariners were born, once the franchise was hijacked by Milwaukee, or Seattle was going to sue the pants off of MLB. So a Mariners-Brewers World Series just might be fun.
Speaking of the post season, here are the latest odds for teams making the playoffs:
And here is MLB’s post season schedule:
Here are some other stories that caught my eye for Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025:
Here we go with the New York Giants. Their star wideout Malik Nabers has not practiced since Aug. 6 because of a toe issue and coach Brian Dabol is not saying much more about it. The Giants are holding joint practices with Jets, before the two teams square off on Saturday.
Here’s your primer for wagering on college football this season. Don’t blame me, blame the CBS Sports website.
Speaking of CBS, playing off what I wrote yesterday that the network’s new owner Paramount sent a message by shelling out $7.7B to acquire the rights to the UFC, the president of CBS Sports stated that Paramount is big on sports. So look for the network to go all in on other sports.
That is going to do it for today’s newsletter. As always, thank you for subscribing and have a great Wednesday.
