Good morning, all! I hope your Friday is off to a terrific start!
If you don’t think football rules the south, then you are not paying attention. For that matter, football rules everywhere in the U.S.A. and it is now nirvana for football fans, as another season is underway. But back to the south, in this case specifically Georgia. Take a look at the football stadium in the picture:
As Brent Musburger would say, you are looking at the new home of the Buford High School football team. Correct. That is a high school football stadium. I can tell you it is nicer than any on campus football stadium in my home state of Connecticut, college or high school. Here are some stadium facts:
It cost $62 million
Capacity of 10,000
15 luxury suites
3,500 sq. ft. video scoreboard
Two-story field. house with locker rooms
Here’s another view of the stadium:
And that’s nothing. The high school football stadiums in Texas, Ohio and other states are even larger than Buford High School. So as another football season kicks-off across the country, whether it’s professional, collegiate or scholastic, remember when it comes to sports, football remains atop of the heap. Buford High School has a stadium to prove it.
Here are some other stories that caught my eye for Friday, Aug. 1, 2025:
Wow! August already. Where does the time go?
Yes, that was some trade deadline for MLB, wasn’t it? Several teams are better today than they were yesterday IMHO, the Mariners, Mets, Yankees, Astros, Phillies, Padres and Dodgers in particular. I think the Red Sox did okay, while I was surprised the Giants and Twins threw in the towel. What are we to make now of San Francisco, after they traded for Rafael Devers? Buster Posey has his work cut out for him.
The Yankees now have more closers than Crane, Poole & Schmidt
I know I just wrote football is king, and I know the Hall of Fame game between the Chargers and Lions was just played, but I cannot get into exhibition football. Once it starts for real, then the sport has my attention.
There are so-called influencers out there, miffed that the Athletics left Oakland, who still insist that new stadium in Las Vegas is not going to happen. Well it’s happening. On Thursday the A’s announced that Aramark Sports & Entertainment will be the first investor in the Las Vegas ballpark, becoming the facilities concessionaire and a minority owner. Face reality influencers, the Athletics are moving to Las Vegas. I know it may not fit your narrative, but the A’s are getting that Vegas park.
And on that note, thank you for subscribing an enjoy your first day of the new month.
