Great commentary, as always, Dan. Just one thing... I think I heard the Red Sox announcers say that Ben Rice, even though he grew up in eastern Mass, was a Yankees fan. As a kid, his favorite player was Derek Jeter.

You're right! There are so few really good New England-born major leaguers, it tough to see a kid play somewhere else. For example, it's been quite a while now, but I still get angry about the Bosox trading away a young Jeff Bagwell for a washed up relief pitcher!!!!
